Capt. Scott Tripp

Bio Summary: Scott lives, eats, and breaths fishing. His father and uncle introduced him to fishing at an early age. He hooked his first Indian River Bull Red at age 10. Scott is not only an NSO Pro Staff guide, he is the owner of New Smyrna Outfitters. His main goal is to meet all your fishing needs wether in the store, online, or guiding you out on the water.

Capt. Mike Mann

Bio Summary: Mike has fished on the pro Bass tour and the pro Red Fish tour. Placing in the top ten and winning several tournaments. Mike can catch fish! He has fished all over the world including the Bahamas, Brazil, Bermuda, Mexico and most of the US. Catching everything from Large and Small Mouth Bass, Peacock Bass in the Amazon basin, Bone Fish and Tarpon in the Keys, Dolphin and Tuna in the Atlantic, and Sailfish in the Gulf. His true passion has been the Mosquito Lagoon and chasing tailing Red fish in the flats .

Bio Summary: Capt. Patrick Preston is a fishing guide with true roots in Mosquito Lagoon. Apparent besides his small town-New Smyrna Beach-upbringing is his sincere passion to fish. From a childhood spent fishing and exploring the flats of Mosquito Lagoon, to his current status as USCG Captain, Patrick’s enthusiasm for fishing is unsurpassed; as he is always looking forward to the next big catch.

Capt. Eric Templeton

Bio Summary: Capt. Eric Templeton was born and raised on the waters of the Mosquito Lagoon in New Smyrna Beach. In doing so he was able to take advantage of the water activities the area provides. He was lucky enough to travel the world on the junior pro surfing circuit, but he soon realized how much he missed fishing when traveling. So, his other passion of fishing won out and he has been guiding ever since. Like most of the NSO Prostaff, Eric has been fishing the Lagoon his whole life.

Capt. Chuck Miller

Fishing Experience: Inshore/Nearshore/Offshore/Fly

Bio Summary: Capt. Chuck Miller has worked on boats all over the globe. Primarly as a Captain of large Offshore sportfishing boats. Chuck also knows his Inshore/Nearshore fishing as well as any. So much so, he is a "Master Fly Tier". Chuck does not guide much anymore but you can find him almost daily tying flies and working at the Canal St. store. Chuck has a wealth of fishing knowledge. Come by the store and 'troll' for some of it!

I (the webmaster) was fishing one day with Capt. Chuck, catching 40 inch Reds. Everytime he caught one he was upset...what? I asked why? His response was, "I have caught a thousand of them that size, I want the record". That is Capt. Chuck and I could only shake my head.


Capt. Rick Overman

Bio Summary: Capt. Rick has a half century of fishing experience here in Florida! He started fishing at a very young age on the Central Florida East Coast. With as much time as Capt. Rick has spent on and around the water he has gone through many personal fishing phases. A decade or more on Offshore, a decade or more Inshore, a decade or more Surf, and the cycle starts all over again. Dang, a half century goes fast when you are Living the Life. He is a true renaissance fisherman.

Oh, and he retired as the Police Chief of Delray Beach. If you have any 'issues' on that end to talk through, he might have some advice on 'those' subjects as well! Along with his experience in Inshore, Nearshore, and Offshore, Capt. Rick is our expert in Surf Fishing. He might even be persuaded to make it down to the beach for some 'knowledge transfer'.


Capt. Dave Griffin

Bio Summary: Capt. Dave started fishing the waters of Central Florida before man walked on the moon and has been living in New Smyrna for the last decade fishing. He is an expert in Surf Fishing and has many decades of Inshore/Nearshore/Offshore experience. Dave has a passion for Costa Rica and the Keys. Have him tell you about the near world record Rooster fish he caught in Costa. As well as the many Billfish he has landed there.

Capt. Dave retired as a homicide detective from the Orlando Police Department. Capt. Rick and Capt. Dave are known as the NSO Security Chiefs!


Capt. Scott Tripp

Bio Summary: Capt. Scott is in the Canal St. store daily. If he has a charter in the AM, he is in the store in the PM. If he has a charter in the PM, you bet he will be in the store in the AM. Capt. Scott's goal as the 'charter member' ProStaff of NSO is to provide you with the gear and knoweledge to catch more fish.

Capt. Scott is on the water over 200 days a year. He will 'hook' you up with what you need to catch more fish. Inshore, Nearshore, Offshore, and Fly...he is your guide in and out of the water to catch more fish.
