New Smyrna Outfitters is a family owned and operated full service fishing tackle destination. With this family approach to business you will always be greeted at the door and we will do our best to help you find the gear you want and answers to your fishing questions. New Smyrna Outfitters was started in 2008 by long time central florida light tackle fishing guide, Captain Scott Tripp (Fish'n'Tripp Light Tackle Charters), his wife Lori, and their three children Taylor, Tucker and Delaney.

The creation of New Smyrna Outfitters has been a long time dream of Captain Scott’s. He grew up fishing and hunting with his father, uncle , cousins and grand father. Most weekends they could be found somewhere fishing on Florida’s coastal waters for trout or redfish, bass fishing in one of the hundreds of lakes near orlando, or deer and quail hunting in some scrub pine or palmetto thicket. This time together and the memories it created has fueled a life long passion for the outdoors that Scott has tried to pass on to his children.

New Smyrna Outfitters is located in the New Smyrna Beach downtown historical district. Captain Scott purchased the building in July of 2008. The next five months were spent gutting, remodeling and restoring the 80 plus year old building with the help of good friends Steve Spanos, Nick Ewing, his father-in-law Rick Overman and lots of family and friends. The interior of the shop is rich with Brazilian Cherry hard wood floors and custom cabinets that complete what Captain Scotts vision was for a true outfitter shop. We wanted to create a shop that makes people want to visit for the atmosphere as much as they do for the over 5,000 items in stock.

Part of every great fishing and outdoor memory as a kid was not just the adventure itself but also the preparation. That meant going to the local bait and tackle shops or sporting goods outfitter. Spending what seemed like hours wandering the isles looking at all the plugs, lures and racks full of rods and reels. The truth is, what you were actualy looking for was that secretive and magical bit of local knowledge and advice on what color to throw, and where the big fish are biting. When you leave our shop we want you to feel like you found that and more.

Our goal here is to make everone feel welcome when they walk through the door. We want you to feel that sense of joy and thrill of preparation no mater what your age and fishing expieriance. Whether your prefrence is to surf fish from the beach for Pompano and blue fish, trolling for sailfish offshore, bottom fishing for grouper in the rocks, inshore sight casting to redfish with light tackle spining gear, or the ultimate challenge and reward of fooling that laid up tarpon with a well placed cast from a fly rod. We have the equipment and the knowledgable pro staff to help make your fishing trip more productive and enjoyable.

Our in-shop Pro Staff has over 200 years of real life fishing experience. These are not internet heros or part-timers, these are lifelong anglers, boat captains and guides. The only thing better than taking someone to catch their first or biggest fish is helping them to pick the eqiuipment and showing them the proper rigging techniques. Then have them come back the next day with pictures and a great story of the one that did not get away. Sharing this angling knowledge with family, friends, charter clients, and local anglers is a great honor and passion for all of us here at New Smyrna Outfitters.
